After-School Tutoring

Reading Assist After-School Tutors provide one-on-one reading instruction to students who need additional support during after-school programming. Tutors focus on teaching foundational reading skills – including phonological awareness and proficiency, and decoding – to support accelerated learning and to help students reach benchmarks.

80% of after-school students reach benchmarks

Tutors work in after-school programs at Reading Assist partner schools, providing 30 minutes of instruction to each student 2-4 times per week. Reading Assist after-school tutors aim to help students improve their reading skill scores and reach benchmarks in foundational reading skills. In previous school years, 80% of after-school students reached benchmarks.
