WILMINGTON— A new initiative to improve youth literacy in Wilmington was announced last Wednesday by Mayor John Carney, who unveiled a partnership with Reading Assist and educational publisher Mrs Wordsmith.
Reading Assist trains educators, AmeriCorps members and interested adults to tutor young people in reading, mostly kids in kindergarten through third grade. Normally this occurs during the school year, and in school summer programs.
